My Mission

It is my mission to help others feel STRONG and make Pilates accessible to everyone!

After teaching in New Zealand and international schools for 22 years I began my Pilates journey 7 years ago.

 

My special interests are in post-natal rehab; supporting others to regain mobility and strength; working with existing fitness levels/sports to develop deeper core power and control, increasing performance and avoiding injury. 

Pilates is not for a certain body size, age or type, you don't have to be fit or flexible and you don't have to work out for an hour or sweat buckets to gain significant positive effects to your health and increase your core strength.

Pilates is for EVERY. BODY.

About Me

Sera Jensen

Sera spent 20 years working in Visual Arts in NZ and international schools. She was living in Hong Kong when she came to Pilates via injury, after giving birth to her second child at 46 years old. Sera was left with severe abdominal and pelvic issues. Doctors said her back would eventually become a functional problem. She was told not to lift weights and even picking up her own children posed a risk.

Pilates One on One with a Certified Instructor over the next 2 years, surgery and then Post-surgery Pilates, enabled her to achieve pain free movement and continue with daily activities and some weightlifting exercises. The depth and effectiveness of the Pilates method blew her away and got her hooked on the practice. So much so she began training towards becoming an Instructor with STOTT Pilates as soon as she got medical clearance.

Fast forward to now and Sera has completed her Mat and Reformer training with STOTT Pilates, accrued more than 200 teaching hours and feels stronger than ever. It is now her mission to make Pilates accessible to everyone, everybody at every level. Pilates is not for a certain body size, age or type; you don't have to be fit or flexible to have access and enjoyment with this method. Pilates meets your body where it is, every day.

Sera loves to help people develop an integrated movement practice that they enjoy, tailored to their own lifestyle and specific goals. She strives to create movement programs that offer healing, mobility and strength alongside the development of a deeper awareness of the body and confidence in its ability to support us living well throughout our lives.

She currently works with private clients and groups in Ōākura, Taranaki, New Zealand and online/international alongside teaching reformer classes at Pilates New Plymouth.
